Here we are sitting watching the last bits of the Eagles/Cowboys game and we start hearing a bunch of bangs. I stopped and looked at Kris and Sarah like, "what is that", figuring that Alison had knocked something over in the basement.
Sarah looks at me and says "oh yeah, that's fireworks". One of her friends had sent her a text message saying that his church was going to be having fireworks tonight. It just so happens that the church is about 100 yards from our house and they must be shooting them off in the parking lot.
Those crazy Methodists! Because when you think of Christmas, you think of what? A Christmas tree? Mistletoe? A nativity scene? Nope. A bunch of fireworks. What commemorates the birth of our Lord better than shooting off a few shells and rattling the windows?
It reminds me of Bull Durham, when Nuke LaLoosh was shaking off Crash Davis call for a curve because he wanted to bring the heat and announce his presence with authority. Launching the fireworks was like the Methodists announcing Jesus' arrival with authority.
Good job Methodists!

2008 Christmas Tree
After getting a call from my mom and dad in Florida asking about my tree, I thought I would post a picture of the 2008 tree. I started a few years ago taking a picture of the tree to see what it looked like every year, since I take an entire day to get it put up and decorated. Here is this year’s tree complete with about 75% of our ornaments and all 2050 lights (yes, it will actually make the room warmer when the lights are on). Not a record though. I forget the year, but if I recall correctly, the record light count for the Hahn Christmas tree is 2400. Maybe next year, I’ll buy a few extra strings to be able to beat it.
