Sarah is
officially done with school! She got to
do something fun today that we weren’t aware of, she got to walk the halls of
her former grade school in her cap and gown.
We just found out about it as a fluke, which kind of makes me mad. I think it would have been fun to see her do
that. Luckily a friend knew it was
happening and took a bunch of pictures.
I don’t
know who started it, or when it started, but apparently the graduating seniors don their
caps and gowns, and get to go back and see the teachers that they started with
and walk thru the halls while the little kids applaud and give them high fives,
etc. I thought it was a great idea. It lets the kids go back and visit some of
the teachers that helped shape them and also give the little kids some
encouragement that one day they will get to do it as well. I know there are a lot of teachers at
Riverside that Sarah had who are still there teaching. And we did a lot with the school as far as
parent involvement, from fundraisers to PTA, so hopefully they all remember
Sarah. By the time she got to fifth
grade she was a pretty active student at Riverside, so I hope they are all
proud of how she turned out!
