Bronze Award Project

Today we spent the day driving to Madison to complete Alison's bronze award.  I won't bore anyone with the details, but the final part was their service project, and this time around was a supply drive (I guess you'd call it a supply drive) for a charitable organization called Newborns In Need.  Unfortunately, the only chapter in Wisconsin is in the Madison area, which meant driving.

Ali and three other girls put together a supply drive at school for a week, and they collected, if I remember right, over 2000 items, and a couple hundred dollars to purchase more things.  Both Kris and I have been very proud of the effort and work that Alison did in completing her bronze award.  Way to go Alison!

Finally Got My Answer

Well, unfortunately I got news this week regarding my job interview.  Regrettably I was not chosen.  I can't say that I'm not disappointed, but it is time to move on.  I am trying to look at it like that just means there are other opportunities out there, and I have started looking again.  The one good thing is that unlike the last time I was looking for a job, I still have one.  I can afford to be picky and choose one that is right for me.  Unlike the last time where I was scrambling and just took the first thing that I was offered.  That is how I got in this predicament.  I shouldn't complain, because at least I have been collecting a steady paycheck.  But it has been less than ideal for the last few years.

I sent a couple resumes out Friday and Saturday, with a couple more that I have bookmarked.  So I am hoping for some better news in the next couple of weeks.

Cheer Season Again

Tonight was the unofficial start to the Junior Indians cheer season, sizing night.  The night where everyone comes and gets their uniforms for next year sized and any other parts of the uniform ordered if they don't have the right size.

Kris always volunteers to work the registration table since we are required to volunteer a certain number of hours each year, and this usually takes care of our commitment for the year.  This year, Kris volunteered for the early shift.  Unfortunately, the woman that was supposed to help Kris didn't show up.  So she started off doing the registration alone.  But then one of the other mom's from Alison's squad decided to help Kris out.  And then, at the halfway point, when Kris was supposed to be finished, the woman who was supposed to relieve Kris didn't show up.  So she had to pull a double shift making sure girls got their registration paperwork turned in.

I ended up stopping by to drop a couple of things off for Kris that they needed, some tape, a sharpie, and some paper clips) and I helped take Alison around to get her sizing done, which was a good thing, because since Kris had to work both shifts at the registration table, Ali wouldn't have been able to get sized until the end, at 8:00.  And as I was sitting there waiting for Alison, I looked at the registration sheets.  Ali's team this year has something like 23 girls registered.  I don't know how they are going to fit all the girls on the sidelines this Fall.
