Instructions

Sarah was hoping to get into the CNA program/class at WCTC over the summer. She waited a little long to decide to do it, but I think she finally realized that if she was going to stay on the PA route, in order to accumulate her paid patient contact hours, then this was probably the easiest way to go about it. The problem is that she has been trying to register online and has been having problems. Of course being a weekend, there is no one to call or contact for help so she was stuck until yesterday. Luckily we only live 20 minutes away, because if it were up to her to get this done now, there is no way she would be able to do it.

The first thing that she needed done was to have a background check performed. Unfortnately she had to have a new one done and couldn’t simply use the check that she had done for her summer job at the Lutheran Church last year. That required dropping paperwork off, and a check, in person since registration opened up on Wednesday. Add to that the fact that the woman I spoke with when I dropped it off had questions about Sarah’s form. Since she printed out the completed form to be signed, and then scanned it, she was not sure if they could accept it or not. Luckily they allowed it. Then I found out the person who does the background checks was out and would not be back until tomorrow. When she did get back, she had a stack of about 50-70 background checks to complete, so the lady told me there was no guarantee she would even get the background check done before registration opened. I then found out that there were only 90 spots open for the summer sessions and that if they got thru all the background checks, they would have close to 400 permits issued. Some of those 400 would be scheduling for the fall semester and not summer, but still it sounded like it was going to be a longshot for getting registered. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
